Complete Coach Works Awarded Contract by OCTA to Furnish and Install up to 484 Bike Racks and 73 Spare Units

RIVERSIDE, CA – Complete Coach Works (CCW) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a contract with Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) to furnish and install up to 484 three-position bike racks and 73 spare units.

Alternative modes of transportation have become popular in order to decrease automobile use and reduce emissions. To keep up with this growing trend, municipalities are changing their infrastructure to better accommodate cyclists. By upgrading to a three-position bike rack, OCTA will be able to offer more rack space to cyclists interested in using public transportation to supplement their commute.

Upgrading to a three-position bike rack allows agencies to enhance their existing mounting systems without the expense of a complete replacement. The new racks are fabricated from stainless steel to prevent corrosion and reduce overall maintenance costs. The bike rack will also allow cyclists to load and unload their bikes with ease which increases safety and reduces interference with bus route schedules.

Complete Coach Works Develops Prototype for RTC to Transform the Next Generation of HVAC Systems

RIVERSIDE, CA – Complete Coach Works (CCW) is proud to announce its contract award to upgrade the aging AvantAC System in 50 Wrightbuses for Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC). A full redesign of the HVAC system was required as a lack of available components to repair the AvantAC system has caused an increasing inability to service the system resulting in buses not being able to be used in revenue service.

The awarded contract has allowed CCW to develop its own operating logic system and retrofit newly designed HVAC components into the Wrightbus. The successful outcome of this system granted CCW the opportunity to install the system into the remaining 49 buses. “Our successful development is groundbreaking news for our company and within the transit industry for all agencies struggling to maintain their own AvantAC HVAC system. We now have a replacement system that will have parts availability well into the future”, stated Director of Sales and Marketing, Brad Carson.

CCW’s new system utilizes readily available industry components with our own streamlined operating logic that is standard within the transit bus industry. By providing alternative parts that are ready for immediate use, it keeps the major system components running for a considerably longer period of time without the need for replacing the entire unit. CCW’s approach provides a shorter design cycle and faster implementation.

New Study calls for More Electric Buses

The results of a recent study, performed by the Union of Concerned Scientists further highlight the environmental benefits of electric-powered buses. Buses powered by electricity are responsible for far fewer carbon emissions than their diesel-powered counterparts. The study found that on average, electric buses produce less than half of the harmful emissions than those of buses powered by diesel or natural gas. The findings appeared to be true even in areas where fossil fuels are used to generate energy for the power grid.

Results like those produced by the Union of Concerned Scientists have increased interest for electric buses by municipalities and transit agencies. CCW Completes Retrofit of WSU Buses

Complete Coach Works (CCW) announced the completion of an electric retrofit project awarded by Weber State University (WSU). The project converts their diesel fuel bus into an all-electric Zero-Emission Propulsion System (ZEPS) bus. The transformation included the removal of WSU’s diesel engine power package components and the addition of electric components such as an electric air compressor, power steering pump, and HVAC system.

With the University covering more than 500 acres, the effective management of resources is a top priority. WSU, who converted the lighting in one of their arenas to LED in 2013, can now add the conversion from diesel to a ZEPS bus to their list of environmentally-beneficial accomplishments. “We are very grateful to be part of a historic time for Weber. We hope this conversion will allow the University to further expand their educational programs,” stated Brad Carson, Director of Sales at CCW.

CCW is honored to be a part of WSU’s goal of greater energy efficiency. The ZEPS bus will improve vehicle reliability and significantly reduce fuel costs. These savings will enable the University to allocate more of their budget toward the growth and expansion of its campus.
